When speaking of thin mechanical watches, it is hard to think of another one rather than Piaget. Piaget, who called itself a Thinnest Watch master, has over half century experience on building thinnest movement and case, since it rolled out 9P movement in 1957. We should know that Piaget started as a movement producer and supplier, before it set up its brand. Among 35 movements that were developed by Piaget, 23 were ultra-thin movements, and 12 of then broke the records. And the Altiplano 38mm 900P assembled Piaget family’s two superior success, brought together the Talent turns of the watchmakers, and the watch case producers and the designers, given the reliable and accurate vitality of this masterpiece.
With its latest thinnest 900P movement, Piaget once again is crowned as the Master on Thinnest Movement. Although now this may not be the thinnest movement, it is the thinnest watch, with an amazing 3.65mm of thickness.
Thinnest movement doesn’t mean it sacrifices something in order to achieve that performance. When it is fully winding, 900P can work for 48 hours. Although I am not a big fan of Piaget, I must say that I really enjoy the design of its complication and its art. The diameter of the case reaches 38mm, but I feels like 40mm at least. In 2014 SIHH, Piaget promoted several editions of Piaget Altiplano 900P. In addition to the world famous white gold edition, there are rose gold and silver edition for your choice. What’s more, this is a slightly-thick high-end jewelry Piaget Altiplano 900P, which means 5.65 mm of the thickness. It has a square-cut diamonds-inserting bezel, and a slightly-protruding dial that lays 33 diamonds. Today it is getting harder to make breakthrough on watches, and a good polishing watch are more expensive, which may explain why Piaget Altiplano 900P is the hottest watch in 2014. As a watch that breaks several records, Piaget Altiplano 900P is quite a good one.
